Abstract
Nigeria, as a leading African economy, has made strides in establishing legal frameworks that govern
the relationship between employers and employees, ensuring the protection of workers’ rights,
promoting industrial harmony, and fostering fair working conditions. Protecting workers’ human rights
is a complex area of law that intersects with various legal frameworks, including labour law, human
rights law, and international law. The protection of workers’ human rights in Nigeria has serious legal
implications as it is paramount for productivity. However, despite the existence of various statutes and
constitutional provisions, many gaps remain in the protection of employees, often rendering legal
protection ineffective or insufficient. This article provides an in-depth analysis of key employment and
labour laws in Nigeria, highlighting their scope, limitations, and the challenges faced in their
implementation.
