Abstract
The principle legislation on land management and control in Nigeria is the Land Use Act. This law was
adopted from the Land Tenure Law of Northern Nigeria 1962, under which the control and management
of all land in the Northern part of Nigeria was under the control of the Governor of the then Northern
Region.
